hi all

 

 

have just done my drivers control switches,heated front rear window switches,headlights switch,and drivers air vent lights .to blue leds

 

if anyone wished to know the clock takes 4 smds

and the heater climate unit takes 26(next job)

 

looks so much better than the green leds

 

the drivers control unit takes 7 3mm leds

the heated front and rear window switches ,take 2 each 3mm leds

lights control switch takes 7 3mm leds

passengers window switch takes 1

parking sensor switch takes 2

anolog clock 4xsmds

climate control unit takes 26xsmds

heater vents take 2 each 3mm leds

 

have added a extra 5mm 5000mcd leds to each vent for more light

hi again

well climate control unit is now all done

green lights all gone now all blue look awesome

 

all electric window switches done

also done the auto box selector which holds 9 green smds

 

all leds bought from

crazt leds from ebay at 75p each

 

just leaves my main clocks to do ,bit of a pig to get the clocks out

am looking at changing around 34 smds to finsih it off then will post some pics

How do you get into switches to change the leds/smds?

 

the aircon/rear heater/recirc buttons are hard to tell if there on or not, in the day light.

air con unit

 

remove black cover and then the 4 screws.

 

once out,2 or 4 gold srews holding the case,remove screws

and drraw the unit and circut board out ,you will then see all the smds

for the led panel ,you need to twist and turn 8 lugs,and the lcd will come away

 

you will then see the rest of the smds

 

around 26 in total

 

to replace the smds ,you will need bright blue ford ones which i bought from

crazy leds on ebay at 75p each

 

when you look at the smd one corner has a slit in it this is the minus leg

just replace the same way

 

ps on the bottom buttons are 2x red smds also change them for brighter ones 2

well have added some pics at last,sorry 4 the wait

still got to do 2xsmds round petrol gauge and 3xsmds for lcd display on main clocks

have also done 5mm led in all four front airvents

and have flat edge 5mm leds inside each door handle

 

i know this is not everyones cup of tea,but i think it looks great

also just had all the black plastic trim colour coded also

 

the rear spolier was imported from germany the rest was bought from frauds

 

hope you like the pics

was bought in 2003 from cc motorsport in west midlands ,you got in brought in from germany

Job Well done, me thinks. :D

 

I'd love to do that stuff to my Mark 1 but i'm expecting her to keel over and die any time.

Gooner top job all in all how many hours are you talking approx, had a vw passat and loved them blue lights they just seem to make you relaxed when driving :lol:

hi ray

 

the hardest and more time spent bits

 

where the clocks,air con unit,and gear selector

 

all in all about hrs wise ..14 hrs i would think

 

but well worth it,,does make u more chilled m8

Thanks mate, i don't have the autobox so that will save some time i hope :D is the dogs though :lol:
